How many type of nerve receptors are there?

Follow the instructions in this post to gather information in your science notebook to help us understand some of the many types of stimulus (and the specialized nerve receptors used to detect them) that we gather from our environment...

1.  SKETCH and LABEL these sensory neurons in your science notebook.
Each type of nerve cell is specialized to detect a certain types of stimulus:

2.  USE THE ROUND IMAGES surrounding the picture of skin below to MAKE A TABLE in your science notebook listing the nerve ending type found in human skin in one column and the (stimulus each detects) in another column.

3.  READ about the different nerve receptors and the type of stimulus at the link Nerve Endings and THEN LIST in your science notebook the class of receptor that gathers each of these type of stimulus:

  • light
  • pressure
  • temperature
  • pain
  • sound

Good Job - You've Finished this assignment!
